This Privacy Policy explains how Understand Al Quran Academy ("we", "us", "our"),
the developer and legal entity responsible for the Salah Recorder mobile application
(package name com.uqa.imamapp, published on Google Play and the Apple App Store), collects,
uses, and protects information. Salah Recorder is used by imams and masjid administrators to record and
submit prayer (salah) recitations for feedback, manage their masjid's prayer-time and display
configuration, and control the mosque's screen/notification setup remotely.
We do not use your recordings or personal information for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

While a prayer recording is in progress, the app shows an ongoing notification titled "Recording <Prayer Name>" with a live timer and a Stop button. On Android this runs as a foreground service notification, which cannot be dismissed while recording is active — this is required by Android so the microphone keeps recording once the app is backgrounded. On iOS it is a local notification that updates in place and includes a Stop Recording action. This notification only displays the prayer name and elapsed recording time that already exist on your device; it does not collect, transmit, or share any additional personal information beyond what is described in Section 1. When recording stops, we also show a one-time "Recording Complete" notification confirming the final duration.
You can review or revoke permissions at any time in your device Settings, though doing so may disable related features (for example, revoking microphone or notification access will prevent recording from working).
We use the following third-party service providers, each of which processes limited data on our behalf under their own privacy and security practices:

Our backend services are hosted under the understandsalah.com domain, and the public
masjid QR display is hosted under uqa.world, both operated by Understand Al Quran
Academy.
We retain your account, masjid configuration, and recordings for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account), or by contacting support@understandquran.com. We will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable time, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted storage of authentication credentials (via secure device storage) and encrypted transport (HTTPS), to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Salah Recorder is intended for use by imams and masjid administrators and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@understandquran.com, or use the in-app "Delete Account" option in your Profile screen.
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence. By using the app, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
